For fans of the Fast & Furious franchise, the news that Justin Lin would not be returning for the seventh installment came as shock. Lin has been instrumental in the franchise's renewed relevance, taking it from an archaic joke into a viable action franchise. Sadly, Universal's rush to get a seventh film into production has forced Lin out, as he knows that you cannot be expected to make a good movie under such a narrow window. It has taken every other Fast & Furious movie two years worth of production, and even then the results have been mixed.
