Fans of the hugely popular Hunger Games trilogy will be on tenterhooks waiting to see what the second instalment brings. With the first film in the series going down remarkably well for a book adaptation, the pressure is on to make this one just as good.

The one-sheet character posters for Francis Lawrence's Hunger Games sequel, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, are popping up everywhere of late and four new ones have been released for your visual consumption. These include Donald Sutherland as President Snow and Snow White and the Huntsman's Sam Claflin as newcomer Finnick Odair.

The promotion for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is certainly underway and lately, we have been treated to a variety of different posters, images and portraits. Today, we have two brand new portraits that helm previous winners of the Hunger Games competition: Beetee, played by Jeffrey Wright, and Johanna, who is played by Jena Malone.

After yesterday's inspired Capitol portraits of Effie Trinket and Caesar Flickerman, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire marketing continues with three new portraits.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire continues to promote itself in a refreshingly unconventional way, embracing the outlandish nature of this fictional universe that off-sets the gritty violence of the titular games. Previously we saw the garish, heavily photoshopped (though intentionally so) promotional posters for Katniss and Peeta's victory tour and today we have some indulgent portraits of some of the Capitol's upper crust.

You may fault The Hunger Games for its lack of conflict, you may fault The Hunger Games for its use of shakycam, you may even fault The Hunger Games if you are a myopic Battle Royale fan.

I would not fault The Hunger Games for any of those things, I loved that movie, an aggressively political work of speculative fiction set in one of the most unique sci-fi universes in years. A more perfect distillation of the times we live in, I have yet to see in a genre film.

December is a month for taking stock of what has passed us by, then compiling those things into a list and ranking them. People cannot help themselves, the only way to process a year's worth of circumstance is to ignore most of it and focus on ten particularly good things.

Not even YouTube is safe from the compulsion. Fitting, really, as that site is built on people's compulsion to imitate everything they see. The video hosting giant has compiled a list of the most viewed trailers of 2012. Four of those entries (and taking up the Top 2 real estate) are trailers for Call of Duty: Black Ops II and one goes to abysmal NBC genre show, Revolution, but brush that aside and you are left with five movie trailers.
