Unless you’re a film critic for the Guardian newspaper, Tintin heralded a major return to form for Steven Spielberg with the spirited young journalist (hmm, he reminds me of someone, but I can’t quite place my finger on it) very much keeping up with the (Indiana) Joneses in terms of adventure and excitement.

It was no secret that The Adventures Of Tintin: The Secret Of The Unicorn was to be the first instalment of a trilogy, based on Hergé’s comic book series, but the bearded godfather of the blockbuster has now revealed a few crumbs of information to Total Film about the production schedule for the sequel.

It always made sense that Steven Spielberg, cinematic master ofthe boy’s own adventure, would take on the challenge of bringing Herge’s much loved comic book character to the big screen. Spielberg has held the rights to produce a movie based on Tintin ever since 1983 and it has been widely reported in the run up to the film’s release that Herge himself said that only Spielberg could ever truly make a Tintin film. The Tintin books are known and loved by millions and there was always going to be some who doubted whether the legendary director would be able to do the books justice.

With the release of Steven Spielberg’s The Adventures of Tintin this week (26th Oct), there’s news that the film’s sequel is already underway.

Everything about this adaptation of Herge’s infamous creation oozes class. Behind the camera you’ve got a veritable who’s who of some of the most successful franchises and comedies of the past 30 years and in front of it all there’s James Bond, Billy Elliot and Gollum – what could go wrong? Luckily not much.

One of the most highly anticipated action films of this year began life as a live action movie and not the potentially groundbreaking CG event being released in October.

Get ready to get teased Hergé fans, writes Toby Moses. A new trailer isn’t usually headline news for my money, but when it’s a film directed by Steven Spielberg and produced by Peter Jackson people are bound to get excited.

And when that film is based on the hugely popular Tintin series then you know there’s a fangasm approaching. The first teaser trailer for the mo-cap extravaganza has finally been released, and it looks, well, very mo-cap.
