Marvel are currently locked in negotiations with Robert Downey Jr. to see the Iron Man star return for a second and third Avengers movie and, while not confirmed, it is expected that a fourth Iron Man movie will be included in the deal. Given Downey Jr has single-handedly delivered Marvel the second biggest opening weekend of all time (behind Marvel's own The Avengers), it's clear that Downey Jr as Tony Stark is a big draw for audiences. Marvel should play it smart, and not their characteristic frugal, because they need Robert Downey Jr.
Beyond two more Avengers movies, The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Marvel are actively developing a reboot of their newly acquired Blade, along with the already rumoured Doctor Strange and Black Panther movies.
It's no secret that Warner Brothers want to create a successful DC franchise the way Kevin Feige, head of Marvel Studios, has created a successful Marvel Franchise. Much easier said than done it seems. Marvel have had more success all around whereas Warner are having a hard time making a live action DC character movie that doesn't feature Batman or Superman. It's not the case that DC haven't got any other characters with amazing stories, it just seems as though Warner Bros don't approach it in the right way. So far, either the casting has been horribly wrong (I am still hoping that they get my many obvious hints to cast Ryan Reynolds as The Flash and pretend Green Lantern never happened) or the story hasn't been delved into whole heartedly: there's always something missing.
How should a new DC-verse be approached then? In an interview with Collider, Kevin Feige gives Warner Bros some advice.
