So now that we can have a rest from people whinging about Mayans and stuff, we can get back to the serious business of talking about comic movies on a website. That's more like it. To be fair, it's certainly a better use of your time than listening to loons try and persuade you the faithful are going to be saved by aliens (that rubbish reminded me of the news footage bits in Independence Day... “I hope they bring back Elvis!”). Right. Comic films. Hello. This is the first Panels To Frames Column for 2013 and there are some splendid cinematic delights heading your way this year. Well, potentially splendid anyway. Let's take a look at some of the biggies this year...

Apparently crashing buses falls into the purview of what a "spider can" do.

Hayley Atwell has confirmed that she won't be appearing in Captain America: The Winter Soldier as the hunt for a female lead continues.

The Wolverine's marketing campaign has thus far been refreshingly restrained, but not in an obnoxious withholding Star Trek Into Darkness way.

Iron Man 3's trailer focused heavily on the absolute, shattering defeat of Tony Stark at the hands of his enemy (Ben Kingsley's The Mandarin) and two out of these three promotional images continue that trend, acclimatising audiences to the idea that everyone's favourite, sarcastic Avenger is in for hard times.

It began as an idea. It turned into a rumour. Now it's official; Hugh Jackman is reprising his role as Wolverine in the upcoming X-Men: First Class sequel, X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Jamie Foxx is currently promoting Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained and of all the probing, interesting questions to ask about such a challenging role in such a controversial film by such a singularly gifted director, MTV decided to ask him about a superhero movie. Go figure.

So that was 2012 was it? Despite the apocalypse, there have also been some great (and some rather lacklustre) comic book movies released this year which have had fans cheering or heckling, and diehards yelling "That's not canon!" like the sad types that we are. As we are still prior to the impending end of the world (to be ushered in by the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse doing the "Gangnam Style" dance), I thought I'd take a look at the releases of the year and get some flame wars going once I slag off your favourite.

2015 is already shaping up to be a pretty big year for film, with release dates already pencilled in for The Avengers 2, Justice League, Ant-Man, Star Wars: Episode VII, and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2.
News this week confirms that Fox’s Fantastic Four reboot is set to join the already highly anticipated list, as it is given a 6th March, 2015 release date.

There's a saying: Go big or go home. Justice League is already struggling to play catch-up with Marvel's slate, so they had to take that expression to heart. It appears they did, as rumours of Justice League's plot indicate the superhero team-up flick will go very big indeed.
