Cooper Considers is a new semi-regular feature where our own Chris Cooper takes a look at the hottest geek stories of the moment and addresses the burning questions plaguing the minds of fanboys and girls everywhere.

How could this happen? I thought they were done!! TDKR ended it all! Batman with super powered beings?!?

Confusion. I was racked with it as I read the news that Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale may be returning to Batman.

Maybe you're sharing similar thoughts. Maybe you're already in love with it or maybe you despise it. I'll put forward the questions I had at first, and then attempt to answer them, now that I've slept on it.

December is a month for taking stock of what has passed us by, then compiling those things into a list and ranking them. People cannot help themselves, the only way to process a year's worth of circumstance is to ignore most of it and focus on ten particularly good things.

Not even YouTube is safe from the compulsion. Fitting, really, as that site is built on people's compulsion to imitate everything they see. The video hosting giant has compiled a list of the most viewed trailers of 2012. Four of those entries (and taking up the Top 2 real estate) are trailers for Call of Duty: Black Ops II and one goes to abysmal NBC genre show, Revolution, but brush that aside and you are left with five movie trailers.

So that was 2012 was it? Despite the apocalypse, there have also been some great (and some rather lacklustre) comic book movies released this year which have had fans cheering or heckling, and diehards yelling "That's not canon!" like the sad types that we are. As we are still prior to the impending end of the world (to be ushered in by the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse doing the "Gangnam Style" dance), I thought I'd take a look at the releases of the year and get some flame wars going once I slag off your favourite.

The online rumour mill is ticking along as usual and we have a nice juicy one for you: It appears that Warner Bros. want Joseph Gorden–Levitt to play Batman in the new Justice League film.

Would you have taken Bane seriously if he looked like The Gimp from Pulp Fiction? I think he looked badass in The Dark Knight Rises, but he wasn't always going to look that way. On the forthcoming Blu Ray/DVD we can see some of the concept designs surrounding his mask.

It’s no secret that big blockbusters, in particular those of the sci-fi/comic book persuasion, get side-swiped in the awards season in favour of more “out there” efforts or dramatic pieces – it’s not entirely fair and it’s not cool, but it is what it is.

Awesome, awesome, awesome! The Dark Knight Rises has a Blu-Ray release date! Hooray! Amazing! Flip yeah! Sweet! Other exclamations which age me horrendously!

TDKR - Bane v Batman - Topslice

Fans of The Dark Knight Rises may be in for a treat if Nuke The Fridge is correct. It seems Christopher Nolen may be re-inserting over half an hour of deleted scenes for the DVD/Blu-Ray release.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES - BANNER - 02 - CATWOMAN

It is a truth universally acknowledged that any franchise in possession of a good profit must be in want of a wife. No, sorry; I meant spin-off.

Batman 1

As the long wait for The Dark Knight Rises finally nears an end, this bat-tastic mega trailer has emerged online for your enjoyment. Combining the trailers from all three of Nolan’s Batman movies, it really hammers home the scope and scale of what the director and his team have achieved.
