Looper came out a couple of weeks ago and everyone has been singing its praises. It’s an original take on the time travel genre, filled with great performances, amazing set design, a great script and overall one of the most interesting and exciting films of the year. I won’t ruin anything for you in case you haven’t seen it but if you haven’t I highly recommend you do.
Once you have seen it, I recommend you see it again and listen to director Rian Johnson's commentary track that he has just released.
It was the unexpected film that sneaked up on us in the early part of 2012. Little known until then, Looper promised to be an enthralling and intense sci-fi thriller, with plenty of action and plot twists. Applauded by (most) critics, it‘s been heralded as “the next Matrix”. As someone who is intimately familiar with that sci-fi epic, Looper isn’t particularly deserving of the title. I was expecting something akin to Christopher Nolan’s Inception, but what you get is a lot more like The Butterfly Effect. It’s certainly gritty and has copious moments of tension, but if you’re looking for something to work your grey matter, I’d think again.
Today sees the release of Rian Johnson's hugely anticipated sci-fi thriller Looper. Set in a world where time travel is used by the mob for assassinations, Looper sees mob hitman Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) engaged in a game of cat and mouse with his older self (Bruce Willis).
Time travel has fascinated and engaged audiences for centuries through literature and film. Here are some of our writers favourites.
Looper hits UK cinemas this Friday. In anticipation for this release, FilmDistrict has released a series of new clips and an inventive, eye-catching animated trailer.
A new featurette has been released for the upcoming sci-fi thriller Looper, explaining the role of Loopers in the film, and a little more about the film. This will be especially useful for people who may be finding the film's overall story to be a bit confusing.
Looper is one of the films I'm personally most looking forward to this year. The first trailer really grabbed me, and I've heard a lot of buzz and speculation all over the web regarding the action-packed sci-fi movie.
The year started slow, with only a handful of great films sneaking in. The Summer proved a disappointment when it should have been the greatest geek even since the Summer of 1982. We are nearing award season, where the smart, adult oriented material starts to reach audiences. This is where 2012 redeems itself.
EW celebrates the exciting slate of titles with an extensive picture previews of films such as Django Unchained, The Hobbit, Looper, The Master, Skyfall, Seven Psychopaths and more!
Another new poster for Rian Johnson‘s upcoming sci-fi, Looper, has been released this week, showing the film’s lead stars with some big guns.
Yesterday Looper director Rian Johnson took to twitter to warn people to avoid any future Looper trailers to keep themselves fresh.
“If you're already set on looper, I'd avoid any trailers from here on out. They don't ruin the movie, but they tip a few things.” he warned.
Well, let's ignore that. Hot on the heels of yesterdays international trailer, a fancy new US one has travelled through time to arrive at this precise moment on your browser.
A new international trailer has been released for Rian Johnson’s upcoming time travel sci-fi Looper.
However, Johnson has warned fans excited for the film’s release to avoid any trailers from now on.
