Having previously worked on The Invasion, it is rumoured that Kajganich's work on an unproduced adaptation of one of King's other novels, It, brought him to the attention of director Ben Affleck (via Vulture). Kajganich will have a major job on his hands as the original novel is nothing short of enormous. It is also one of the most beloved of King's many works so the fanbase will be ready and waiting.
The Stand has previously been adapted as a television miniseries in 1994 which starred Molly Ringwald and Gary Sinise. It follows survivors of a worldwide apocalypse brought about by the accidental release of a flu-like virus known as Captain Tripps and the battle between good and evil that ensues in the wasteland that has been left behind.
