Not only does the beard look great, Day Lewis' entire face seems to have changed - the naturally mild and gentle featured method actor has developed a powerful and distinct look. A man known for disappearing into character, this does not look like the same man who played Daniel Plainview some four years ago.
Rumour has it that Day-Lewis has not broken from his Lincoln accent since March, but there is no word on whether he is adopting the mythical booming tone or if he will be using the allegedly more accurate high-pitched voice, that made him an awkward public speaker despite giving some of the most famous speeches in American history.
Lincoln is currently shooting, with a cast to die for, and finally one of Spielberg's passion projects will see the light of day.
