Malkovich of the Dead

In the days before Pegg and Frost, any suggestion of a romantic zombie film would be met with mocking chortles and a pie to the face. But now, the world has seen the blood-tinted light, and a cast is being devised for Warm Bodies, which sees the Earth yet again over-run with hoards of the brain-hungry.

Nicholas Hoult (Skins, X-Men First Class) will portray R, a zombie with an identity crisis, who begins to question his place in the world of the undead, after bonding with the girlfriend of his last meal.

Empire says John Malkovich is the latest to join the cast, next to Hoult and Rob Corddry, as a General Grigio, one of the few remaining humans with a pulse, who naturally wants to rid the world of zombies. Malkovich is rumoured to be the primary antagonist of the film, with the daunting task of convincing a living, breathing audience to forget everything George A. Romero ever taught them, and to join Team Z!

Warm Bodies is due in cinemas, 2012.
