In an interview with Metro Arnold talked about his life in politics, his new films and discussed the possibility of returning to the franchise that made him a star. According to the man himself "[The producers are] working on a script. It could happen, probably in the next year. I am absolutely up for it."
The fact that Arnie is now 65 years old and he would be playing a cyborg that doesn't age doesn't seem to faze him, or Hollywood, as the last Terminator he was in Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines made him the highest paid actor in the world even though he was in his mid 50s.
Schwarzenegger wasn't able to appear in the last film Terminator Salvation due to him being tied up running the state of California at the time, so instead they used a CGI version of a younger Arnie, but it appears he is very keen on returning to his most famous franchise.
What do you guys think about Arnie returning to his roots? I feel unless it has a great story and fantastic director unlike Terminator 3 & 4, it will just be another blight on the legacy of the first two classic films. This isn't an official announcement as yet and I'm sure studios are throwing scripts and ideas at Arnie left, right and centre but I think this is one that could get fast tracked if Arnie really wants it.
