The first Kick-Ass had brutal & realistic fight scenes; well not really when you think about a little girl kicking so much ass but they seemed believable while watching. Bloody, dirty and not what you would normally expect to see in a superhero flick.
Pre-production is currently under way and they have been working out all the fight scenes with the stunt teams. Due to the international nature of the production with different teams involved around the globe, Millar has been watching the Fight scenes Via Pre-Viz or "pre-visualisations" where the stunt people act out all the fights and these are cut together like they will be in the movie with music.
According to Millar:
"My favourite costume I saw this morning is The Colonel’s dog. A big dog in a mask. But am torn between the Hit-Girl and Mother Russia fight and the scene with Hit-Girl fighting the super-villains on the roof of the moving van. Both are just mind-blowing. But the Mother Russia fight is going to be one of the most brutal and epic battles in cinema. Think how good Mindy is and then multiply it to 300 pounds of female muscle just pounding her and using every weapon you can imagine in the midst of that big final battle.
This looks amazing with the stunt team and a temp. Imagine what it’s going to look like with the actors, Jeff’s direction, Eddie’s edits and a final soundtrack. I’m really, really excited."
After reading this report I’m pretty excited to see what they can bring to the table, with Batman’s epic battles with Bane now finished and getting Superman – Man of Steel - battling General Zod next year, it will be interesting to see if they try to top these battles with superior choreography, spectacle or stick with the brutality and viciousness of the first film. I’m hoping for the latter.
