Jim Carrey Kick-Ass

Universal Pictures are attempting to court Jim Carrey for Never Back Down director Jeff Wadlow’s Kick-Ass sequel, it has been announced this week.

A self-professed fan of Matthew Vaughn's original, who will be writing the script for this sequel, Carrey would play the part of Colonel Stars, a military-themed superhero who founds the super-team Justice Forever.

With the recent news that Scrubs star Donald Faison is also set to join the cast as Doctor Gravity, it looks like this film is shaping up to be a lot better than the original already.

Subtitled "Balls to the Wall" and an adaptation of the Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. comic, the sequel will pick up with the costumed high-school heroes Kick-Ass (Aaron Johnson), Hit-Girl (Chloe Moretz) and Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), who join up with a group of normal citizens who have been inspired to fight crime in costume.

If he signs on, Carrey will also be joining John Leguizamo, Robert Emms, Yancy Butler and Morris Chestnut, for the film which is set to be released on 19th June, 2013.
