Each trailer is voiced by one of Superman's two dads: Jor-El (Russell Crowe) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner). The fathers differently express the duty of being so powerful to their shared son. Jor-El espouses about his son's role as a leader to bring humanity through a difficult development and into a better future. Jonathan Kent sets no grand goal, but prepares his son for the choices he must make and the daunting ability to change the world for better or worse.
And how does Kal-El/Clark Kent react to all the paternal pressure? Well it looks like he grows up to be Henry Cavill, grows a beard, and joins a fishing fleet to get away from it all.
I think we can assume that Man of Steel will chart the journey of a man learning to accept the burden becoming the titular hero, to reinforce this message there are only a few moments in which you see a flash of red cape; glimpses of a child playing games and the final shot as Superman flies through the sound barrier.
Probably the loudest criticism of the last film was its slower pace so it's a brave move to focus on character to introduce Cavill as Supes. We'll need to wait for another trailer for action, plot, and confirmation of the name of the big bad; but it looks like it will be worth the wait.
