Marvel are marking the end of the “first phase” of their cinematic universe by releasing a gigantic box set of the six movies that make up their spandex-clad box office onslaught. Ahead of its September release, we have images of what the artwork on the collection will look like… and it’s just as stunning as the movies themselves.

The set will include: Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor and, of course, Avengers Assemble. The entire collection seems to have been put inside a giant briefcase-style box, as if to make finding the shelf space as much of a nightmare as possible, but the art to go on the individual film sleeves, courtesy of artist Matthew Ferguson, is beautiful.

It’s available for pre-order now on Amazon USA at a price of approximately $140 (£90), so you’ll essentially need to ring Wonga.com before you can order your copy of this rather remarkable set. It’s advertised on Amazon UK at a pre-order price of £40, but I’d assume that comes without the snazzy packaging and artwork that the Americans are getting.

Either way, it looks like we all need to start saving up our pennies so that we can own all of these remarkable movies in one excellent collection. Then, after that, we can start saving for phase two.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One – Avengers Assembled Limited Edition box set will be available in the US from September 25th 2012.
