Chilling new trailer for found footage anthology V/H/S

VHS - Trailer - Top Slice

Portmanteau horror is not something often seen these days, but new movie V/H/S unites many of the most exciting directors working in horror cinema today to produce a horror anthology that, on the strength of this new trailer, looks to be utterly terrifying.

Directed by the likes of Ti West (Innkeepers) and Adam Wingard (A Horrible Way To Die), V/H/S looks to be an interesting spin on the increasingly tired found footage genre.

“When a group of petty criminals is hired by a mysterious party to retrieve a rare piece of found footage from a rundown house in the middle of nowhere, they soon realize that the job isn’t going to be as easy as they thought. In the living room, a lifeless body holds court before a hub of old television sets, surrounded by stacks upon stacks of VHS tapes. As they search for the right one, they are treated to a seemingly endless number of horrifying videos, each stranger than the last.”

While less extreme than the recently released red band trailer, there are certainly scares to be had in this promo and it seems that V/H/S could mark a second wind for portmanteau horror movies.

V/H/S will be screened at Film4 Frightfest and will get a general release later this year.
