Blomkamp's highly anticipated follow-up to District 9, his 2009 break-out hit, is another slice of science fiction/action/social commentary, starring Matt Damon. The synopsis reads:
"In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard line government of?cial, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds."
The image is fairly nondescript but dynamic nonetheless. It shows Damon (complete with shaved head), kitted out with a weird-looking exoskeleton and armed with what is technically termed " big-ass gun". Given the delightful carnage Blomkamp unleashed with his sci-fi weapons in District 9, I can only imagine what Damon's gear has in store.

Elysium also stars District 9 star Sharlto Copley, as well as Wagner Moura, William Fichtner, Sonia Braga, and Diego Luna. Expect more Elysium news to come out of Comic Con next weekend.
Witness Matt Damon blast some fools with science on March 1st 2013.
