Van Helsing Reboot

After last months big.. well, moderate reveal that Universal were planning the Van Helsing reboot no-one was asking about, more information has surfaced – Tom Cruise has been confirmed to both star and produce the project, working alongside producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci.

In a recent interview for Crave Online, Kurtzman has shed a bit more light on the project.

When asked about the Van Helsing reboot he enthused:

“I really like the character. I actually think there’s so much more opportunity in the story than what has been put on screen before.”

“I don’t want to give away too much but I think that these kinds of movies have evolved a lot since then. You know,The Dark Knight was a major, major corner-turning moment in the way that genre and superhero stories could be told. Really grounded in reality. Really grounded in really cool things. That’s what I’d like to do without sacrificing the fantasy element. We aspired to do that as well on Trek, you know, keep it “real.” That’s such a different franchise than Batman, but that’s really what we wanted to do. And we’d love to do that with Van Helsing.”

With Star Trek 2 looking ready to appear on our screens in 2013, and the pair also being attached to produce Universal's Mummy reboot, here's hoping they can give Van Helsing the attention it deserves for its second attempt at the big screen.
