Excitement levels are probably as high as they are ever going to get for Christopher Nolan's conclusion to the Dark Knight Legend, Warner Bros. have pummelled us relentlessly with marketing materials over the last few weeks and when you have your opponent up against the ropes the best tactic is to keep hitting them.
The latest trailer (a Nokia exclusive, curious given Batman's predilection for phone hacking) would be the boxing equivalent of a haymaker, it hits hard and looks great, by taking a lot of familiar old footage and re-cutting it into a more dynamic experience.
I often wonder about the intended audience for these trailers, most people have made their minds up about this movie (both the devotees and the back-lashers), but I can see the value in this trailer and the most recent TV spot. The tone is completely different, they sell the action and the humour of the film, over the foreboding and social commentary. If anyone was hesitant about The Dark Knight Rises, it would be those who just want an exciting movie.
To those people, I ask: Are you satisfied now? You should be.
