breaking dawn part 2 teaser - the volturi

A whole ten seconds of footage! Aren’t we lucky? Ahead of Wednesday’s release of the first full trailer for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, Summit have released a short teaser trailer featuring the Volturi on the prowl.

Edward looks moody. Bella has no clue what’s going on. Carlisle tells us the plot. The Volturi are hooded, cloaked and sinister. It’s nice to be back in the comfortable world of The Twilight Saga.

This trailer gives us a decent look at Kristen Stewart’s Bella now that she’s a fully-fledged bloodsucker and she already seems mildly more entertaining than usual, unlike Edward who still seems to just be upset about his eternal existence alongside the love of his life.

At first glance, we don’t seem to have been given much here. But actually, in the brief showing we get here, the central crisis of Breaking Dawn’s climax is introduced. The Volturi think (wrongly) that Bella and Edward’s bizarre offspring Renesmee is an “immortal child”: a newborn transformed into a vampire. These creatures are uncontrollable and therefore, Renesmee must be killed.

Unfortunately, it’s from here that the book tails off towards its gigantic anti-climax. Here’s hoping that they’ve found a way to make it entertaining. This teaser bodes well though and hopefully this anticipation will continue when the first full trailer is released.

Breaking Dawn – Part 2 is the final film in the Twilight franchise and will be released November 16th.
