This latest clip starts with an evil guy. How do we know he’s evil? He has greasy hair and stubble. In short, he looks like he’s up to no good. And sure enough, he has a gizmo to break into a car. But wait! It seems that, somehow, Spider-Man has already broken into the car and is kickin’ it in the back seat. He offers the villain some helpful tips…
“If you’re gonna steal cars, don’t dress like a car thief.”
It’s made clear in this clip that Spider-Man is the person that Peter Parker always wanted to be, he’s a man dripping with all of the confidence and wit that Parker doesn’t have. But also, he’s a bit of a bully. Not content with ensnaring the bad guy, he humiliates him as well. This perhaps shows that Andrew Garfield’s Spidey is a more multi-faceted look at the character, as you would perhaps expect from Marc Webb: the man behind anti-romcom (500) Days Of Summer.
We also see Spider-Man having a confrontation with the police force, showing that this webslinger isn’t the friend of the state he probably should be.
The Amazing Spider-Man swings into UK cinemas on July 3rd.
