A sequel has been a possibility for some time, even before the first film was released, with the initial idea to focus on Chris Hemsworth's tortured Huntsman. However, with both Hemsworth and Snow White herself, Kristen Stewart, contracted for two more films, it looks like we could see the pair united for a second film.
While it's not yet known whether Sanders will be returning to direct the sequel, Universal have hired David Koepp, the man behind Jurassic Park, Spider-Man and War of the Worlds to write the screenplay, hopefully meaning it will have a good script alongside the spectacle.
There was a great film desperate to get out in Snow White and the Huntsman, but, despite the impressive visuals, there just wasn't enough focus on developing the characters beyond their fairytale archetypes. Now, if the earlier idea for the sequel following the Huntsman is still in play then a follow-up could work. After all, he was the only one really afforded any back story apart from Charlize Theron's Ravenna.
With the film heading into its second weekend, it remains to be seen whether it will make enough money for Universal to continue fast-tracking its proposed sequel, so if you are desperate to see Snow White reunite with the Huntsman, I wouldn't hold your breath just yet.
