The Bourne Legacy Trailer

Rising star Jeremy Renner’s next big project sees him in the starring role in The Bourne Legacy. A second trailer has been released in the last week or so, giving us a somewhat more detailed glimpse into the world of Robert Ludlum's double-crossing CIA heads and rogue agents. High octane and full of twists and turns, the film promises to pack a punch when it is released in August.

Successor to Jason Bourne’s previous outings, Renner plays Aaron Cross, the next - and supposedly ‘perfect’ - version of the super assassin Bourne should’ve been. Operation Outcome takes over where Treadstone left off; however, thanks to the fallout from events in The Bourne Ultimatum, the CIA decide to shut it down and the project director (played by Edward Norton) tries to have all those involved assassinated. Renner’s character, Cross, goes on the run like his predecessor to protect both himself and the doctor (Rachel Weisz) who created him.

Director of the film, Tony Gilroy, has an impressive portfolio of scriptwriting work behind him. This is only his third directorial role, his previous films being Michael Clayton and Duplicity. Gilroy certainly has his own style of film-making, which is apparent through both his directed films and those that he has scripted - equal parts gritty and stylish, I’m sure Legacy will be no exception to this rule.

My interest in Renner’s work was certainly piqued after seeing him as Hawkeye in Avengers Assemble earlier this year - already a big fan of the Bourne series (as I am sure many people are), I cannot wait for this film to come out!
