While the perfect casting for Dredd would have been a 1980s Clint Eastwood, the choice of Karl Urban is a solid one. He certainly has the jutting chin. Information from the set has been few and far between, but the pictures that have been released have been reasonably encouraging - take this one, for example.

I'd say that the uniform is down pat and, whoever Judge Lex is, I wouldn't want to spill his pint.

The film is due for release in the next couple of months and I'm hoping to sneak into a screening next week. Early word is that the film is true to the source material and super - and I do mean super - violent. That's got to be the right way to go. A PG-13/12A version of Megacity One's most feared lawman would be a terrible mistake. I don't think that's something we need to fear.
