Shocker: Disney Announce The Avengers 2

In a move that can only be described as sound-minded financial decision-making, Disney CEO Bob Iger officially announced something that everyone had assumed was a given; The Avengers 2 is in the works.

During a conference call to analysts, discussing the companies quarterly earnings (in summation: "Yay!" Avengers, "Nay!" John Carter), Iger re-iterated the previously announced Marvel Studios release slate with Iron Man 2 and Thor 2 scheduled for a 2013 release while Captain America 2 is in lined up for 2014.

No concrete timeline was given for The Avengers 2, although odds are good that it will be getting a 2015 release to maintain the type of critical and financial buzz that is surrounding the Marvel properties.

Never one to cash cow go un-milked, Iger also suggested that Avengers-based attractions will be appearing at Disney theme parks in the future.
