Sequel Suckah! - Black Dynamite 2 To Shoot In Late 2012

Scott Sanders' 2009 'blaxploitation' parody Black Dynamite is a wickedly smart and immensely quotable 84 minutes, with Michael Jai White on top form as the titular kung fu vigilante. Adored by genre enthusiasts and comedy fans alike, its low box office return does not reflect the quality of the gags and action on offer as Sanders and co ape the low-budget '70s films that had black audiences flocking to their local cinemas.

Speaking after the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of his latest film, Charles Matthau's Freaky Deaky, Michael Jai White announced that there were definite plans for a sequel: "We hope to shoot 'Black Dynamite 2' at the end of the year", he remarked, before indicating his intention to follow his directorial debut (last year's Never Back Down 2: The Beatdown) with a foray into rom-com "early next year".

With a Cartoon Network spin-off series also in the works (MJW is on board and helping with development, view the pilot here) it's possible we could be seeing the gradual formation of a proliferating film brand. Keep your eyes peeled for more news on Black Dynamite 2, jive turkeys.
