Although the film is still yet untitled, it will be the fifth outing for Tom Clancy's CIA agent who seems as good as getting into global espionage disasters as he is thwarting them. Last seen in The Sum of All Fears, Ryan was re-incarnated as Ben Affleck, tasked with preventing another world war after a nuclear bomb blast. Previous incarnations include Alec Baldwin in The Hunt for Red October and Harrison Ford in Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger.
Speaking to ComingSoon.net, producer Mace Neufeld revealed a little more information about the next glimpse into Ryan's life story. Giving up on recovering any chronological order in the films, this film will "pick him up when he's on Wall Street… [but] the Jack Ryan movies have never been action films. They're kind of 'thinking man's thrillers.' Jack is referred to as a 'water-walker' because of his ability to jump ahead to conclusions. That's very big in all the Jack Ryan films and that's how we want to portray him. He's a teacher. He's a historian. He's a linguist. And he's really smart."
With Chris Pine back on board the Enterprise filming the Star Trek sequel and Branagh also attached to direct The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, it could be a while before we see Jack Ryan back in action.
