J.J. Abrams & Co. Would Rather You Not Look At Leaked Star Trek 2 Images

Sci-fi fan networks have been abuzz with speculation after photos were leaked recently depicting Benedict Cumberbatch at loggerheads with Zachary Quinto’s Spock whilst filming the next Star Trek installment.

J.J. Abrams’ modern twist on the retro classic is currently in production with the sequel to the 2009 blockbuster. He is keeping schtum, as usual, letting nothing slip about the plot, Benedict’s character (will he be a villain, as speculated, or something more complicated?) or any other potential spoilers.

Benedict, fresh from filming his part in The Hobbit, looks on top form, if I do say so myself, as he wards off Quinto’s Vulcan neck pinch. It was stated by Quinto, however, that the shots were of a scene that won’t be shown in the film: “The cameras weren’t even rolling...so imagine what it’ll look like when we’re actually doing it.”

Zoe Saldana (Uhura) and director J.J. have also spoken out against the leaked images, reportedly saddened as they don’t want to spoil the surprise once the movie itself is released next Summer.

Whilst I would consider myself a Trekkie (well, a ‘Voyager’ Trekkie, at least), I will admit to not knowing much about the original series and can’t really guess at who Benedict might be playing. After a lengthy discussion with some fellow sci-fi geeks, we decided to rule out both Khan and the Mirror universe characters as being far too obvious. We here at LitM are certainly looking forward to seeing the finished film next year to find out, though!

If you insist on defying the will of Abrams (we would never dream of it!), you can find the leaked images here.
