Gina Carano Has Ass-Kicking In The Blood

15 Feb

Fresh off the admittedly mixed reception to her big screen debut in Steven Soderbergh's Haywire, Gina Carano is set to return to kicking people's heads in for John Stockwell directed action movie, In The Blood.

gina caranoThe hard-as-a-boxing-glove-full-of-nails MMA beauty turned not-exactly-Meryl-Streep actress will play a vengeful wife desperate to track down her husband, after he has been kidnapped while holidaying in the Caribbean.

Director Stockwell, who is also responsible for Into The Blue and Blue Crush, had this to say about Carano's new role: "This role will showcase not only Gina’s fighting skills, but also her acting abilities as her character struggles to reign in her violent past."

I enjoyed most of Haywire (review here) but, beyond Carano's easy-on-the-eye looks and brutal-on-the-bones fighting abilities, the performance was not the draw of the film. Thankfully, I expect the balance between emoting and punching will skew heavily towards the latter as 8711, the stunt team that helped produce the awesome action scenes in Carano's Haywire, are set to work on the stunts for Blood.

In The Blood will begin principal photography in late spring/early summer in Puerto Rico.
