Seeking A Trailer For Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World

End of the world movies have a special place in my heart. Is it the place in my heart that flares up whenever I'm sat in a crowded cinema screen filled with obnoxious loud mouths? Yes, but the general vicinity of that place is still my heart, so it counts.

Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World follows that grand tradition. After a last-ditch effort to prevent an asteroid from hitting earth fails, the planet is given a deadline and we get to see how modern American life would change under those circumstances. The story follows Dodge (Steve Carell) and Penny (Kiera Knightley) as they embark on a road trip to reunite with lost loves and estranged families.

The film is the directorial debut of Lorene Scafaria, writer of Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist, and aside from Carrell and Knightley, it seems Scafaria has assembled a great supporting cast of talented comedy performers including Patton Oswalt, Megan Mullally, Rob Huebel and Gillian Jacobs.

This premise with that cast, paired with a light yet entertaining trailer, you can consider me once again eager to see the world end.

When he isn't writing for the prestigious site you currently find yourself reading, Andrew is busy either writing for EatSleepLiveFilm or posting pictures of dogs in hats on Facebook. He fell in love with movies after a double-bill of The Empire Strikes Back & Return of The Jedi at the tender age of four. His favourite film is Goodfellas, his favourite director is Martin Scorsese, his favourite actor is Paul Newman. Caught you off guard there, eh? You were expecting Robert De Niro or something.
