Christian Bale

Christian Bale is in talks to join director Todd Field for his next picture. Bale gets work all the time, and good work to boot, so his casting news is less exciting to me; what really interests me is the idea that Todd Field will finally be making his third feature.

Based on true events, The Assault deals with the hijacking of an Air France plane at Algiers airport in 1994 by four armed jihadists. The plane, with nearly 200 passengers on board, was allowed to depart for Paris, but landed in Marseilles for refuelling, and it was here than a French SWAT team prepared to lay siege to it.

“No one ever gave a damn about me… I was reborn.”

So explains the man at the centre of one of the most bizarre cases of identity theft to ever occur; as superbly documented and re-enacted in documentarian Bart Layton’s debut feature-length film The Imposter.

Mark Margolis

Every great director has a good luck charm, it may be a behind the scenes collaborator or a regular cast member or maybe they hire a gimp to slap. Darren Aronofsky's good luck charm appears to be the unmistakable craggy features of Mark Margolis.
