Martin Scorsese to modernise - shoot on digital

It seems that one of the final nails has thudded into the coffin of traditional 35mm film, as noted advocate of the ailing format, Martin Scorsese, will shoot his next film The Wolf Of Wall Street on digital instead.

Carrie Remake - Chloe Moretz on set - top slice

Courtesy of Splash News Online, we have a load of set pictures from the upcoming remake of Brian de Palma’s classic horror movie Carrie, starring Chloe Moretz as the titular telekinetic schoolgirl.

Box Office - Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter

Abraham Lincoln is elected President of the Weekend

Potential upset for fans of Starship Troopers. Toby Jaffe, one of the producers responsible for the forthcoming Starship Troopers remake, claims that the remake will do away with the social commentary of the novel and earlier film, instead focussing on a straight-up action romp.

Total Remake - Remake - Top Slice

Columbia Pictures could not have anticipated just how terrible their timing was, when releasing the brand new trailer for the Total Recall remake.

Literally ten minutes before the clip went live, I had just finished re-watching Paul Verhoeven's original.

Nora Ephron - Obituary - RIP

It’s very rare occurrence for a screenwriter’s presence to be felt in a film, no matter what the director. That’s because a screenplay is often designed by a committee – a conveyer belt of practically anonymous writers that are hired and fired at will.

Escaping from spectres seems to be Daniel Radcliffe’s thing at the moment. Whether he’s escaping from the career spectre that is Harry Potter or the dark-costumed woman from whom this film gets its title, it seems that Dan’s post-Rowling career is not going to get moving easily. But The Woman In Black is certainly a cracking start.

Arthur Kipps (Radcliffe) is sent by the law firm he works for to Eel Marsh House, an abandoned building surrounded by marshland, in order to sort out the affairs of its previous occupant. After encountering hostility from the locals, Kipps discovers that the house is haunted by the ghost of a woman dressed (funnily enough) in black who causes horrible things to happen.

The Human Fly - Comic - Top Slice

Marvel's Avengers initiative made blockbuster titans of Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and The Incredible Hulk. X-Men, and now Spider-Man, have undergone the reboot treatment and Fantastic Four and Daredevil will be joining them soon. It's starting to look like the biggest and brightest of Marvel's stable have already been mined for all their blockbuster worth.

The news that Marvel's über-obscure 1970s comic serial, The Human Fly, will be adapted for the big screen does nothing to disprove this.

Marvel movies - Ant Man and Guardians of the Galaxy

In internet terms, a lot of time has passed since the last major Marvel story but here are two new ones, adding further fuel to the rumour flames of where Marvel's focus is for Phase Two.
