Taken 2 Latest Top Slice

It's rough being an ex-CIA operative with a kidnap-prone family, as the latest exploits of Bryan Mills can attest.

The latest feature from glitzy French director Florent-Emilio Siri, Cloclo is a sprawling, ambitious and conceited portrait of a forgotten superstar, whose erratic career as a lovable crooner whipped France into a frenzy in the 60s and 70s. While England (and indeed the world) went crazy for The Beatles, France had their luminary in Claude François, a man whose sex appeal left women in a state of passionate wonderment wherever he went. Before his premature death at the age of 39, François lead a hectic life full of profitable highs and deceitful lows, padding out an expanding career (which included his penning of the song Comme D’Habitude, later adapted as My Way by Frank Sinatra) with personal and monetary struggles, familial instability and a string of doomed love affairs, which all conjoin to form the dizzying rungs in an ultimately hollow career.

Pacific Rim - Comic Con Poster - Top Slice

Guillermo del Toro’s new film Pacific Rim has been kept pretty tightly under wraps until this summer’s Comic Con where he showcased some footage which blew everyone away.

A horror movie with minimal gore, no nudity or action, consisting mostly of dialogue for the first half and only four characters. It doesn’t really sound like a typical horror movie, and it isn’t.  The Devil's Business is actually more like watching a stage play unfold for the first twenty minutes, before becoming a ‘normal’ horror film and this is why it shines - you get a chance to get to know the main characters before everything kicks off.

Cockneys vs Zombies - Alan Ford - Trailer

Horror fans around the country may be needing a hug right now as their favourite event of the year, Film 4's Frightfest, has come to a close. Films about monsters, mutilation and mayhem have been on the menu at the Empire Leicester Square all weekend and here are some of the picks for each day of the festival for you to keep your eyes peeled for over the months ahead.

The Avengers - Captain America Deleted Scene - Top Slice

The Avengers was a rarity: A long movie that left me wanting more. The film saw its fair share of cuts, two of which were released online recently (here and here), but they were mostly disposable scenes that didn't really add to the movie. If anything, the alternate opening would have taken away from the film.

The latest deleted scene to hit the web, however, is the first one that feels essential. The minutes this would add to the runtime are negligible, the much-needed pathos and humanity that it would lend the film would have been invaluable.

The Master - Philip Seymour Hoffman

The marketing surrounding Paul Thomas Anderson's The Master is enigmatic, to say the least.

 Sightseers - top slice

Following his brilliant debut with black comic housing estate gangster flick Down Terrace and last year's transcendentally horrifying Kill List, Ben Wheatley is a British talent to watch.

Following up a bona fide masterpiece of British horror cinema has to be a tough prospect, thankfully Wheatley side-steps expectation, much in the way he did from Down Terrace to Kill List, by producing something completely different.

Park Chan wook - bnw top slice

Park Chan-wook, director of The Vengeance Trilogy, has just finished his first English langue film - Stoker - and must have enjoyed the experience as he is now in talks to direct the Western The Brigands of Rattleborge.

Michael Keaton slice

After a week of speculation about who will be performing “evil dude” duties in the new RoboCop reboot, it's looking like, for today at least, the role will be played by Michael Keaton.
