Win! A Blu-Ray a Day: Quatermass and the Pit

by Plex
16 Sep

Well, then. We're going to have a bit of fun for the next few days. Those lovely people at Studio Canal (formerly Optimum) have given us brand, spanking new Blu-rays from their autumn range and we are going to be giving them away to you, our lovely readers. First up is Quatermass and the Pit.

Quatermass-and-the-Pitt-420x600The third in the trilogy of films based on Nigel Kneale's seminal Quatermass series, the film was made by Hammer Studios in 1967, directed by stalwart Roy Ward Baker and stars Andrew Keir as the titular scientist, battling evil alien forces that threaten to take over the world, and also stars James Donald, Barbara Shelley and Julian Glover. Nigel Kneale's Quatermass series has been said to have influenced everyone from Stephen King to John Carpenter to Dr Who.

And it scared the living you-know-what out of me as a boy.

As ever with our competitions, entry is as easy as falling off a log. In order to have your name dropped into our virtual tombola, you need to retweet our competition message - follow us @lostintheplex to make sure you see it - and then give us the answer to a very simple question, which is...

What is the scariest movie you have ever seen?

Leave your answer in the comments below or, if you are running an old browser and can't see them (tut tut!) hop over to our Facebook page here and do the same.

This is a one day only competion and we will be drawing the winner late tonight. So don't hang about, eh?

There will be another chance to win on Monday.

Plex – the Scarlet Pimpernel of movie reviewing. He’s worked in the industry since the turn of the century, has a black book of contacts worth killing for, and isn’t afraid to give duff films both barrels. Harrison Ford called him ‘that little shit’ and he once trod on Johnny Depp’s foot. That’s just how he rolls.

[REC] has to be one of the scariest films i've seen in recent times. Scariest film ever? Well, it's Cheaper By The Dozen of course. *shudder*

The scariest film for me personally has been Signs, yes - the one with Mel Gibson and the crop circles.

I still don't dare watch this clip of the "party" scene since seeing it once before. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iE9IK_w5aIc
